My husband and I are self confessed movie nerds and tv show bingers. For these reasons I thought I’d start sharing my current watch lists and recent movies I’ve watched at the cinema with you.
We’ve both got Cineworld Cinema cards. It’s a subscription service where you pay a set fee monthly and go to the cinema and see as many films as many times as you like. Heaven for a movie nerd! We’ve had them for years now. It’s a great way to get out of the house and we get a hefty discount at some of the surrounding restaurant using the card. We also get discount on food and drink bought at Cineworld Cinema at a whopping 25%! I just love seeing the total go down once they swipe our cards at the till.
We also have Netflix (uk) so yeah….. we do watch a lot hahaha sometimes we do talk to each other I swear! hahahaha
Let’s start with the movies I’ve seen in the past few weeks.
Black Panther IMDb rating 7.8
I really enjoyed this film, my husband was bored throughout. We are suckers for super hero movies with good action scenes and witty banter. We both felt this movie concentrated too much on telling the back story and not enough in the now. We’d already seen most of the action scenes in the trailer unfortunately. It is a shame when they show so much in trailers. Black Panther is visually amazing and the cast are great. Michael B Jordan is a fav actor of mine since watching ‘That Awkward Moment’ a very funny film. I can see Black Panther movies in the future be great as now they have the back story out of the way, they can do amazing story lines in the future.
Fifty Shades Freed IMDb rating 4.4
I went to see this with one of my girl friends and honestly only went to see it as I’d seen the other two. I don’t rate any of them very highly at all. I found the editing of the first film to be dire and granted, that does get better in the sequel and in the third and final instalment. Let me put it like this, I’m pleased they are over.
Downsizing IMDb rating 5.7
I went and saw this with one of my guy friends. That’s our thing, the cinema. Usually horror movies but we thought we’d give this a go as the trailer made the film seem like it was going to be hilarious. It stars Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig so we had high hopes. Gosh, we were so wrong and halfway through we looked at each other and contemplated walking out. We didn’t in the end as we just had to find out how it ended. Badly, that’s how it ended… Honestly, I personally found the trailer for this film was so misleading. We did not find it funny or entertaining and if I’d actually paid £12 (or whatever the cost of a cinema ticket is now without a Cineworld Card) to see this film I’d be wanting my money back. I was so disappointed.
Maze Runner: The Death Cure IMDb rating 6.8
I really enjoyed the first film. I thought it was refreshing and entertaining. I hadn’t (still haven’t) read the books but thought the whole idea and the execution of the first film was brilliant. The sequel was not as good as the first (but are they ever..? I mean Aliens was but I think that’s the exception to the rule) This third instalment was according to my husband a bit naff. I must agree. I found it quite boring and the story didn’t really go anywhere. It started with a great scene and lots of action and just sort of fizzled out and went downhill from there really. Shame cos I really like Dylan O’Brien. I thought he was funny as Styles in Teen Wolf and great in American Assassin.
We are usually a very picture heavy blog (because I love photography) but as we don’t want to get in trouble with any copyright infringements we have chosen not to include any on this post or future Movie or Netflix posts. We hope you understand and still want to read our new blog series.
What movies have you guys been to see at the cinema recently? Anything you can recommend to watch or even to stay away from? Please do comment as we’d love to hear from you all!
Until next time,
