How to relax in style for free

Did you know that you can sign up at your local Jo Malone counter and get added to their mailing list and receive invitations for new fragrance launches and Hand & Arm massages? This isn’t a VIP or a blogger thing. Its an everyone thing. This is also a free thing! Who doesn’t like free?

We were invited to our local Fenwick Jo Malone to sample their new fragrance Jasmine Sambac & Marigold launch which they describe as an addictive new Cologne Intense.

Yummy Chocolate

The invitation stated that we would receive a complimentary hand and arm massage and that we would also get to create our own bespoke box, adorned with floral stamps. However, the box thing didn’t happen… sad face. We did however get some bubbly, chocolates and some super cute samples of 3 fragrances each! In an adorable little mini Jo Malone bag…happy face in the end.

Bubbly and Gift

We discussed our favourite scents that feature in their standard collection…well we can’t really call Jo Malone standard… but you get the point.

We each picked out a few scents and narrowed it down to one to layer with the new Jasmine Sambac & Marigold. That’s what Jo Malone is all about, layering scents to create your own bespoke scent.

Anna and Sam have very different tastes as it turns out. Not sure why we are even friends with such wildly different tastes hahahaha Anna’s favourites are the Oud & Bergamot cologne;

Precious oud, reframed. The mysterious, smoky character of this revered wood, central to Middle Eastern fragrance traditions, radiates with the clarity of crisp bergamot and orange.

She loves to layer this with the Earl Grey & Cucumber cologne;

A British tradition…afternoon tea. A fragrance with a burst of bergamot, distinct to Earl Grey, and the cool succulence of crunchy cucumber. Counterpoised with a sweet base of beeswax, vanilla and musk. Reviving and refined.

Anna likes the darker scents with a hint of light. She will spray these on her clothes and skin and it seems to last forever on the clothes. Hang on, that doesn’t sound right hahahah she does wash her clothes once in a while lol, it lasts until you wash your clothes again. There, that sounds better lol.

The lovely sales lady used an Earl Grey & Cucumber Hand and Body Gel Moussant on Anna. They whip it in a cup of warm water than gently wash your hands and arms. It smells divine and the cleanse is so relaxing, especially whilst sipping on some complimentary bubbly and eating complimentary chocolate. She followed this with a hot towel. She then massaged Anna’s hands and arms, heaven we tell you!,  using the Lime Basil & Mandarin Body Creme. Finishing it all off with a generous spritz of the Earl Grey & Cucumber and of course the whole reason for our visit, a spritz of the Jasmine Sambac & Marigold. They describe it on the website;

Serene fields of jasmine sambac. The most precious jasmine of all. Pure white buds plucked at dawn. Fresh with dew. Coveted gems of the colourful Indian flower market. Glowing against vibrant marigold and exotic ylang ylang. A beautiful contrast of garlands. Entwined with rich benzoin resin. Enveloped by the warmth of vanilla and amber.

Sam’s favourite is the Peony & Blush Suede cologne;

The essence of charm. Peonies in voluptuous bloom, exquisitely fragile. Flirtatious with the juicy bite of red apple and the opulence of jasmine, rose and gillyflower. Mingling with the sensuality of soft, blush suede. Luxurious and seductive.

Sam loves light and floral scents; especially as we get into Spring! She felt like trying something new for this event though (as she always goes for that scent), and the lovely sales lady recommended the English Pear and Freesia cologne;

The essence of autumn. The sensuous freshness of just-ripe pears is wrapped in a bouquet of white freesias, and mellowed by amber, patchouli and woods. Luscious and golden.

Sam now thinks she has a new favourite! This wasn’t as sickly sweet as the Peony & Blush Suede; it was quite delicate and light on the skin, but lasted well into the next day! Like Anna, they used a Gel Moussant followed by a hot towel. But rather than mix and match the scents with the Body Creme, Sam stuck with the English Pear and Freesia across all the products. They then mixed it with the Jasmine Sambac & Marigold cologne to finish off.

Honestly, you guys really should try these complimentary hand and arm massages. There is no hard sales pitch and totally relaxing. Afterwards you will smell amazing too! We were treated to a little sneak peak and sniff of the upcoming trio of limited edition florals: Plumb Blossom, Nashi Blossom and Sakura Cherry Blossom. We of course immediately booked ourselves in for June to try these…remember it’s free right?

L-R: Sam (the English Rose) and Anna (the Swedish Cinnamon Bun)

Until our Next Adventure,

    1. Pretty cool isn’t it! I filled in a form at my local counter ages ago and every time there’s a new launch I get an email invite for a complimentary hand and arm massage using the launching products. I’ve bought too many things recently as it all smells so divine and need to curb my spending big time hahaah xx
