How to Smell Gorgeous (by Anna)

Some people have their signature scent, the smell that would remind people of them, and I used to be one of those people. I had a few perfumes I rotated between. Abercrombie and Fitch original, Calvin Klein Euphoria, Estée Lauder Muse to name a few.

I’ve however become a Jo Malone lover and I think it’s so great how all their products work so well together. I personally think this is a fabulous way to smell gorgeous, mixing and matching to find what your nose falls in love with by creating your own scent basically!

It’s expensive though! I constantly joke with the staff at my local counter that they are bankrupting me. It’s only half a joke hahahahaha

Earl Grey & Cucumber Cologne, Oud & Bergamot Cologne Intense, Pomegranate Exfoliating Shower Gel

The very first ever scent I bought from Jo Malone was the Earl Grey & Cucumber Cologne. So light and yummy and lovely. But because of the price I took ages making the decision to actually buy it. I’m so glad I took the leap in the end! I have repurchased this several times now.

With a top note of Bergamot and Heart note of cucumber and Base note of beeswax it’s just Mmmmmmmmm to my senses. At £45 for a 30ml bottle and £90 for 100ml it’s kind of a luxury to me. I try to buy it at the airport for £37 as much as I can to save the pennies you know.

I layer this on top of the second scent I ever bought from Jo Malone which is Oud & Bergamot Cologne Intense. Its dark and gorgeous and works beautifully with Earl Grey & Cucumber Cologne. Top note of Bergamot, Base note of Cedarwood and Oudwood. But blimey it’s so expensive at £115 for 100ml (doesn’t come in a smaller size) that I have not repurchased this in cologne form. Luckily, they do this one in Body Crème form at a ‘mere’ £60 for 175ml. This Body Crème keeps your skin moisturised for 24 hours and let me tell you, the scent lasts for that long on me too!

I use the Pomegranate exfoliating shower gel to keep my skin clean and polished and this is also a divine experience on the senses! Top notes of Pomegranate, Heart note of Casablanca Lilly and Base note of Guaiacwood.

There you have it folks, the steps I take to smell gorgeous! I’m going to leave you with a beautiful shot I took (if I may toot my own horn a little) of my cute cat Freddie and my now empty (but keeping it for the pretty shelf) cologne intense.

Please do leave me a comment because as usual I’d love to hear from you all! What perfumes to you wear and recommend? Which ones to stay away from? Do your pets photobomb your pictures too? hahahahah

Until Next Time,

  1. I really enjoyed reading this post, thanks for sharing! I just love love love fragrances. I never smelled Jo Malone, but I’ll bet it’s divine! The more expensive they are, the better staying power they have and they just smell so darn good! Truth is I can’t afford expensive perfume, but a very dear friend of mine bought me a bottle of my favorite scent in the whole world – Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche. I almost never want to use it up, but I’ll have to so it won’t turn rancid on me!

    1. I’m happy you enjoyed the post! I love the Chanel Chance, you absolutely smell gorgeous Diana! A handy money saving tip, to save my own perfume I always spray lots of the perfume on when I’m at the shopping centre so I never put mine on, on those days 😀 xx

      1. Oh my thanks!! When I’m wearing Chanel, I feel like a million bucks! Yes, sampling at the perfume counter is a money saver, (lol!) I used to collect samples from Nordstrom! xoxo

    1. Thank you so much! You must know the struggle of black clothes and white cat then hahahah
I think that’s because it’s a cologne rather than perfume. I find the body creme lasts until the next day and I spray my clothes with the cologne more than my skin and i find that makes it last much longer but I agree, it doesn’t last as long as I would have hoped for the price xx

  2. I like very light pretty smells on me. Anything heavy and/or sophisticated just doesn’t suit me at all no matter how I love them on others. I love Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf but I’ve never rebought it because I think I pushed the limits of what I can wear with it! I like Daisy (Dream) by Marc Jacobs and Flower by Kenzo but I think I wear Happy by Clinique the most

    1. I’ve smelled the Victor and Rolf flower bomb and kinda know what you mean. What a lovely name to a perfume, happy! I’ve not sniffed that one before so will make sure I do now. I really used to like Angel by Thierry Mugler but it smelled absolutely vile on me and my skin. Shame, bottle was so pretty and I hear it lasted a really long time on the skin.

  3. I would really like to have that ”signature scent” you were talking about! But I’m always scared of crossing that thin line between, oh that’s nice/you’re put together! and ouff what’s that smell… Lol, great post!

  4. I live in the desert. It’s summer. 45 degrees. Nobody smells good…
These post was positive though and there is hope for us all 😉 (men’s deodorant . EVERYWHERE. Is the solution)

    1. Thanks Laura for reading and taking the time to comment, means a lot to me. I’ll be following your blog too, looks like a great journey starting your own clothing line! Can’t wait to read through your posts (at the weekend though, busy week ahead for me 😀)
